水流形态观测水流形态观测observation of water flow condition的作用。水流平面形态观测其观测范围自建筑物起，至上下游水流正常处止。观测的内容有:泄水建筑物上下游的水流流向、平面回流、局部漩涡、折冲水流、水花翻滚、冲击波(由于边界变化而产生的一种波，常常发生在流速较高的泄水道或明渠弯道上)及水流分布等。观测方法有目测、摄影法、经纬仪或平板仪交会法，也可以采用录相法记录水流平面形态。在目测时，要预先绘制观测范围内的建筑物和上、下游的河道平面图，将所观测到的平面形态随时描绘在平面图上，并加必要的文字说明。在摄影或录相时，要选择水流表面有代表性的部位，并应将设置在建筑物上的标志一起摄入。对于一些大型工程，目测及摄影都不能满足时，可采用经纬仪或平板仪交会法观测。水面线观测观测范围与水流平面形态观测的范围相同。观测的目的是为了了解上下游水位情况，及时分析建筑物边墙是否够高，水面波动的大小是否影响发电或通航等。观测的方法有:水尺法、活动测锤法及波高仪电测法。水尺法是在观测范围内，沿水流方向设一系列的水尺，泄水时将各水尺的水面读数记下来，绘制成完整的水面线。活动测锤法用于水面较宽或侧墙上无法绘制水尺的建筑物上。在测取的水面线范围内设置横跨水面的钢梁或绳索，使测锤能上下左右活动，沿一条绳索可测取一个横断面的水面线，数条绳索即可测取纵剖面的水面线。近年来常采用波高仪(有的称为液面仪)电测法，即在要观测的水面处，设立金属杆，在杆上固定电容式或电阻式感应器，用电线通到记录地点，可以用仪器自动记录其水面变化。这种方法最为精确。水跃观测多采用方格坐际法，即在发生水跃范围的两岸侧墙上，绘制方格坐标，按坐标描绘水跃的形状和位置。绘制网格时，应由消能工的起点开始，向下游每隔1米绘一条纵线，由消力池底板开始，向上按高程每隔1米绘一条横线。在水面波动大的部位，纵线刻姗至0.1米，横线刻划至0.5米。水跃观测要在闸门开启稳定以后再进行，以免发生误差。挑射水流观测指对挑流鼻坎消能工挑射的水流的观测，内容包括挑射水流形态、挑流的最高点、水舌的内缘和外缘的落水点、尾水波动及下游的雾化区。挑流形态观测通常采用拍摄照片，或在两岸建筑物上的适当地点用经纬仪交会挑射水流表面点，定出挑流的形状，然后用目测定出水舌内、外缘的落水点位置，调查测量下游雾化范围。水流对下游河道的影响观测指观测泄水对下游河床、岸边的冲刷程度。
