颗粒分级按颗粒的大小，将粗细颗粒分开，是一种属于粉体工程研究的单元操作。颗粒分级包括筛分和分级。筛分是按筛面网孔尺寸选择颗粒，让细颗粒通过筛孔分离出去，而较粗的颗粒留在筛面上。分级是按颗粒在流体介质中的沉降速度来选择颗粒,粗颗粒沉降分离出去,细颗粒随流体带走。按所用的流体介质，分为水力分级和气流分级。颗粒分级通常作为粉碎操作的准备或后续工序。先将过于粗大的块粒分别出来，以适应粉碎机器的性能。或者及时用适当机器将粒径合格的颗粒分离出去，减少不必要的过度粉碎，以得到粒径均匀的粉碎产品。所以，粉碎和颗粒分级常组成各种开式和闭式系统（见破碎），有时一台机器同时进行粉碎和分级两种操作。（见彩图）
