OnSeptember 24,contemporaryartistMatthew Barney "89will discuss his latestproject,Redoubt, and his work as an artist at Yale Center Beijing. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session.
Matthew Barney isaleadingcontemporaryartist, whose latest work,Redoubt,in the focus of a major exhibition that opens at UCCA Beijing on September 28. The exhibition was organizedby Yale UniversityArt Gallery where it debuted last March through June .Matthew Barney: Redoubt will be on view at UCCA in Beijing from September 28 through January 12.
Redoubtincludes aneponymous two-hour film that traces thestory of a wolf hunt in central Idaho. Also featured arefive monumental sculptures, more than forty engravings andelectroplated copperplates, and an artist-conceived catalogue. Taken together, theseworks create acomplex portrait of the American landscape.
耶鲁本科学院"89届校友、美国当代艺术家马修·巴尼的最新系列作品“堡垒”于今年3月1日至6月16日期间在耶鲁大学美术馆首展，并将在9月28日至明年1月12日登陆UCCA尤伦斯当代艺术中心。这也将是这位国际当代艺术的标志性人物在中国首次举办个展。
展览将呈现一部时长两小时的同名影像作品，此作品围绕“狩猎”主题及与其相关的神话传说和艺术创作，讲述了一个发生于爱达荷州锯齿山脉中的猎狼故事。展览还将展示5件巨型雕塑、40余件雕版与电镀铜蚀刻作品，以及艺术家参与创作的作品图录。
9月24日晚，耶鲁北京中心荣幸地邀请到艺术家马修·巴尼分享他的创作历程。观众还将有机会现场向艺术家本人提问。

Artist
Matthew Barney was born in San Francisco in 1967 and raised inBoise, Idaho. Heattended Yale University, receiving his BA in 1989, then movedto New York City, wherehe lives today.
From his earliest work, Barney hasexplored the transcendence ofphysical limitations in a multimedia art practicethat incorporates film, sculpture,photography, and drawing. His notableprojects includeRiver of Fundament,, afilm-opera in three acts;TheCREMASTER Cycle, a five-part project made from 1994-2002; and his ongoingseriesDRAWING RESTRAINT(1989 –present).
Barney"s workhas been the subject of major exhibitions at museumsaround the world, including theSolomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; SanFrancisco Museum of Modern Art;21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art,Kanazawa, Japan; and Haus der KunstMunich.

Mr. Greenberg has been a member of Yale Center Beijing’s Executive Council and retired as the Chairman and CEO of American International Group (AIG). In , he was awarded the China Reform Friendship Medal.
