无机复合材料复合材料的一种,它的基体材料和分散材料都是无机材料。从广义上讲,这类材料包括了从古代即已使用的石灰砂浆和现在用得最多的建筑材料──混凝土、石棉水泥、玻璃纤维增强水泥、搪瓷等。若从现代复合材料的概念来看,则主要指高性能的金属陶瓷,尤其指用无机材料纤维增强的陶瓷等。陶瓷、一些氧化物、碳素材料是无机复合材料中的基体材料,它们把各种纤维或粒子分散材料固结成一体,既具有陶瓷的耐高温、抗压强度大、弹性模量高、耐氧化性强(碳素材料的耐化学腐蚀性)等良好性能,又克服了陶瓷性脆的主要缺点,从而获得综合的优良性能材料,如既能耐高温、耐氧化而又有一定韧性、耐超高压而又不变形,耐腐蚀而又不会老化,以及既耐低温、又耐烧蚀等性能。在各类纤维中用得最早、最多的是玻璃纤维,但它的弹性模量低,不利于设计高刚度结构材料。从60年代开始出现高刚度、高强度的氧化铝纤维、硅酸铝纤维、碳纤维、硼纤维、碳化硅纤维及氮化硅纤维等增强分散材料。纤维复合材料的品种很多,常以纤维及基体同时命名。其性能常优于未加纤维的基体,例如石墨纤维增强的氧化镁,其抗冲击强度比纯氧化镁大15倍;硼纤维增强的氧化铝比钛合金轻33%;碳纤维增强的氧化铝比铝轻40%,而强度与钢接近。以碳纤维或玻璃纤维复合的碳素材料具有耐高温、耐腐蚀、耐磨和耐海水侵蚀的性能,现已普遍用于换热器、耐腐蚀容器、反应器衬里和机械密封材料等。并且可以用机械冷加工方法加工,可用作超音速飞行器和中、远程导弹的防热材料。纤维增强陶瓷的生产方法有浇铸法、热压法、浸渍法和晶须析出法等,其中热压法可制得致密产品,纤维与基体间粘结得好,纤维有一定取向,是用得较多的生产工艺。无机复合材料目前大多处于研制和试用阶段,在军用飞机、卫星、导弹及体育运动器械方面用得较多,也有的已作为正式商品用于民用飞机和汽车工业。当前的重点是进一步改善制造工艺、降低成本、扩大生产和推广应用。估计90年代将会广泛商品化。一些专家预言,21世纪将是复合材料的世纪。
