新型除草方法化学除草剂的广泛应用，对控制杂草为害起了很大的作用。但除草剂的大量使用会破坏生态平衡，导致环境污染。近几年来，大量研究结果表明，利用多种方法可有效防除某些杂草，使用安全、无污染，是防除杂草的新途径。美国科学家研制成一种除草剂，其主要成分是胺基乙酰丙酸，用量小，效果好，不损害作物，对人畜无害，使用方便。黄昏前喷施，被杂草吸收，在光的作用下产生有害物质，破坏杂草细胞膜，使之流出汁液，4个小时内杂草变白而枯死。美国农业研究中心的科学家，发现侵染苍耳、曼陀罗等杂草根部的某些细菌能起到除草的效果。细菌在杂草根部细胞壁的缝隙中繁殖。这些细菌分解杂草根部细胞壁或将毒素传递至杂草叶中，减少叶绿素的合成，此外，还会干扰杂草激素的平衡，使杂草对干旱、病害等更敏感。专家们还发现一些根部细菌能使杂草种子腐烂。科学家筛选出这些细菌，经过大量繁殖，喷洒在田里，7天至10天之后，杂草全部死亡。美国研制成功一种不仅能吸收除草剂而且能缓慢释放除草剂的塑料绳。将这种塑料绳填入飞机场跑道接合处及裂缝处，可使这些地方多年没有杂草生长和蔓延，以保护沥青和混凝土路面，避免因杂草蔓延生长而出现各种事故。（源自《中国花卉报》.11.09）
