会计假设（accountingassumption）也称会计核算的基本前提。它是指为了保证会计工作的正常进行，根据对客观的正常情况或趋势合科情理的判断，而形成一系列不需要证明就可以接受的假定前提。在商品经济条件下，会计假设是开展会计工作的前提或制约条件，是建立会计原则的基础。它适应会计实践的需要而形成人们对它的认识也不相同。一般认为会计假设包括会计主体、持续经营、会计分期与货币计量四项。但国际会计准则委员会在1989年7月颁布的“关于编制和提供财务报表的框架”中指出，编制财务报告的基础性假定还有权责发生制与持续经营。
