社群行为社群行为socialbehaviour同种或异种动物间的集体合作行为。可以仅表现为暂时和松散的集群现象，但更典型的是组成一个有结构的永久性社群，其中有明确的分工和组织。①集群。最简单的社群行为。如非洲稀树草原中，大量食草兽逐水草而居，当遇狮豹来袭击时，某些个体惊叫告警，于是集群遁逃。这种聚合很松散，但却是互利的，离群个体很少。②昆虫社群。真正的社群性昆虫包括两组：等翅目（白蚁）和膜翅目（蜂、蚁）。其特征为生殖功能上的分工。社群内的个体分属几个阶级。例如蜂的社群内有一只蜂后，数以千计的工蜂（雌性），在一年的某些时间内还有雄蜂。工蜂的职务在一生的不同阶段也在变化：成年后头3天清扫有卵的巢房，然后用花粉和花蜜的混合物喂饲大龄幼虫；以后其头部的一种腺体分泌王浆，短期喂饲刚孵出的幼虫，并持续喂饲某一选定的幼虫使之发育成蜂后；10天后，体内的蜡腺开始分泌，工蜂开始筑巢；18天后离巢进行定向飞行，学习通过太阳和各种标志与巢的关系来定向，同时又保卫蜂巢；21日起开始采食，直至2～3周后死亡。蜂后是唯一进行生殖的雌蜂，其功能就是产卵。雄蜂与蜂后交配后被逐出蜂巢而死亡。此外，分群的工蜂从腹部的纳萨诺夫氏腺体产生一种外激素，蜂后则以大颚腺分泌外激素。如果彼此失掉联系，这两种外激素的相互作用能使工蜂与蜂后顺利地聚集在一起。蜂后的外激素起调节群体的作用，能抑制工蜂的卵子发生，还能吸引工蜂到它身边，并刺激工蜂的“随从”行为。集群鱼靠群体游动干扰天敌的视线③脊椎动物社群。脊椎动物的社群通常由临时的或较长久的一对配偶为核心，由此扩大，加入母—幼或成—幼关系，在同一社群的成体之间，又按一定的优势序位组织起来。序位指群体中有的个体为优势者，另一些则为从属者。优势者享有优先选择配偶、得到食物等特权，同时也是领域范围的标记者，从属动物的保护者。例如，狒狒生活于开阔地区，易受多种掠食者的侵扰，所以结群防卫有重要意义。一般有几个体大强壮的雄性为优势者，留在社群中心，其他雄体环绕在外缘，并有雄狒狒专司警戒，一发现捕食者，即以警报叫声相告，所有雄体迅速聚集成群，恐吓或攻击敌害。当全群移动时，雌狒狒和幼体常与优势者在一起，遇见敌害，从属的雄体迅速冲上去，位于社群其他成员和敌害之间，以保护幼体和雌体。灵长类社群的大小和构成也各不相同。长臂猿社群仅包括一雌一雄，黑猩猩和大猩猩则由8～9只结合为一社群，而恒河猴可形成150只的大社群。一般说来，营地栖生活的种类，其社群成员数目远比树栖者多。
