中尺度对流复合体一种中尺度天气系统的强大而有组织的对流系统,其英文简称为MCC。这种系统铅直发展可高达200百帕以上,持续时间可达12小时以上。它和许多对流天气如暴雨、龙卷等相关联。美国R.A.马多克斯等学者在20世纪80年代利用气象卫星资料首先发现和总结了这种系统,并给出了定义:①尺度。低于-32℃的红外温度云罩面积大于105平方公里,低于-52℃的内部冷云顶区的面积大于5×104平方公里。②生命期。满足上述条件的云区要持续 6小时以上。③形状。椭圆或圆形,发展最旺盛期内其偏心率(短轴/长轴)大于0.7。中尺度对流复合体的主要结构特点是:在大气边界层由下沉气流造成的地面辐散场内有一个中尺度β天气系统的冷高压,暖湿空气沿前方辐合区上升,在700百帕附近辐合达最大值并伴有较明显的暖的中尺度低压,强上升运动可贯穿整个对流层,在对流层顶附近则为强辐散气流相伴随的中尺度α天气系统的冷高压。中尺度对流复合体往往发生在对流层中部弱的斜压(见斜压大气)系统中,下部有明显的暖平流区域,具有一定的斜压性,这有别于一般的热带风暴系统(见台风)。中尺度对流复合体还有明显的日变化,绝大多数系统在深夜达最强。据研究,美国大多数突发性暴雨和洪水都与这类系统的活动有关。近年来对中国降水系统的研究表明,无论在华南,长江流域或是北方地区都存在这种对流复合体系统。
