中国美国史研究会中国研究美国历史的群众性学术团体。成立于1979年，会址设在湖北省武汉市武汉大学,现有会员360余人(1987)。领导机构为全体会员选举产生的理事会。第 1、2、3届会长为中国社会科学院世界历史研究所教授黄绍湘。现任第 4届理事会产生于1986年，会长为南开大学历史研究所教授张友伦。另外设有副会长、正副秘书长及理事若干人。研究会章程规定，研究会在马克思主义、毛泽东思想指导下研究美国历史，发扬理论联系实际的学风，贯彻百花齐放、百家争鸣的方针，展开自由讨论，团结和组织全国美国史研究和教学工作者，积极开展学术活动，互通科研情报和资料，增进中美两国史学界和人民之间的了解和友谊。具体任务是：提出和研究美国历史的重要课题；组织会员编译资料和撰写论著；举办学术讨论会;交流教学情况和经验;发现和培养人才；开展国际学术交流活动等。研究会成立9年来,开展了各种形式的学术活动。举行过 5次全国性的学术讨论会。1980年10月在山东省烟台市召开学术讨论会，讨论了独立战争前后的美国历史，美国向帝国主义过渡时期的中美关系，F.D.罗斯福新政和战后美国政府的外交政策。1984年 6月在四川省成都市召开第 4届年会，讨论了美利坚民族的形成，工业革命及其后果，内战与重建，罗斯福的内政、外交政策及其影响，美国当代问题等。1986年 8月在甘肃省兰州市举行第 5次全国性学术讨论会，讨论了美国的人民运动，中美关系，美国宪法和政治制度，从尼克松到里根的内政外交，美国历史教学等。研究会编辑《美国史论文选1949～1979》(天津人民出版社1984年出版),两本《美国史论文集》（三联书店1980、1983年出版）。会刊为《美国历史研究通讯》。
