片梭织机用片状夹纬器（或称片梭）将纬纱引入梭口的织机。片梭织机的引纬速度高，对织物品种的适应性强，可织制阔幅织物，机器噪声较低。片梭织机有PU和PS两种系列,工作宽度为220～545厘米，分单色和多色两种,可织制棉、毛、化学纤维等纯纺和混纺织物。如加装多臂和提花开口机构，可织制小花纹和大花纹织物。1933年德国人R.罗斯曼首先提出片梭引纬；1934年瑞士苏尔泽公司研制出片梭织机，50年代初投入商业生产。片梭织机与一般有梭织机的不同处在引纬、打纬与织边三个部分。引纬由盛梭箱、扭轴投梭机构、导梭轨、接梭箱和片梭传送机构等部分组成。每台织机设有片梭若干只，顺序从织机的供纬侧将纬纱引入梭口。投梭的动力来自扭轴加扭时贮存的弹性位能，剩余能量由油压缓冲器吸收。片梭沿导梭轨运动。它进入接梭箱被制动后，由梭口下方的传送机构送回原处。打纬采用共轭凸轮机构。当筘座前进时，导梭轨退出梭口移到布面下方，完成打纬动作；筘座后退静止时，导梭轨插入梭口，片梭沿导梭轨前进，将纬纱引入梭口。在片梭织机上应用折入、绞经和中间织边装置，织制单幅、双幅或多幅织物。织制合成纤维织物时用熔边装置使边部经纱固定。70年代以来，片梭织机广泛采用储纬器，电子检测织机停台等装置以提高织机生产率；同时还试验成功用机械、气压或直线感应电动机等方法投射一端或两端纬的单只片梭、往复引纬的片梭织机。（见彩图）
