大熊猫消化竹子全靠纤毛虫帮忙国宝大熊猫属食肉目动物,但它90%以上的营养来源于竹子。大熊猫如何能够消化高纤维的竹子呢?这一直是一个谜。科技人员经过5年的研究,首次在大熊猫胃内发现纤毛虫,这一发现将对大熊猫消化生理学研究产生深刻影响。食肉目动物大熊猫具有典型食肉动物的消化道:肠道短,没有复胃,缺发达的盲肠。因此,大熊猫如何消化竹子,是无数人想解开的谜团。5年前,在四川省学术和技术带头人培养基金、成都市城市建设管理委员会、成都大熊猫繁育研究基金会的资助下,成都动物园费立松研究员领导的科研小组就此展开了专题研究。5年中,费立松研究员和四川农业大学的杨光友教授密切合作,终于在大熊猫的胃内发现了大量纤毛虫的存在。除此以外,科学家们还有3项重大发现:检测到大熊猫消化道内含有很高的淀粉酶;大熊猫消化道缺乏乳糖酶;在大熊猫粪便中培养、富集到纤维素分解菌和产甲烷菌。据介绍,一般在食草动物消化道内才有纤毛虫,它的生物总量占整个消化道微生物总量的50%左右,在植物性食物的消化与利用方面发挥着重要作用。研究人员在5只大熊猫胃内发现的纤毛虫密度低于牛羊等复胃食草动物。费立松研究员告诉记者,在食肉目单胃动物大熊猫的胃内发现纤毛虫,在世界上尚属首次。这为探索大熊猫对竹类植物性食物的消化与利用机理打下了基础。食肉的大熊猫在其长期的进化过程中,食性出现变化,主要是为了适应生活环境。动物食性和营养的改变,往往首先影响到食物消化、吸收的有关器官,最终影响到动物的整个身体。估计大熊猫在消化生理方面发生了某些变化,但到底发生了哪些变化,是个需要深入研究的课题。(源自中国林业网)
